About this club
Club d’aviron de Boucherville is a non-profit club at 239 Boulevard Marie-Victorin, rowing on the Saint Lawrence River. Its mission is to develop recreational and competitive rowing for people of all ages through instruction, programmes and day camps.
Rowing began there in 1973, when boats were kept on local residents' properties. The organisation incorporated in 1974 as Club d’aviron des Seigneurs de Boucherville and built its first temporary boat shed at the present site in 1975.
Three club athletes represented Canada at the 1976 Montreal Olympics. Day camps developed with the City of Boucherville from the early 1980s, and the organisation adopted its current name in 1995.
The city opened a new club boat shed in 2011. The club's current fleet includes singles, doubles, quadruple sculls and eights, and introductory sessions move from the ergometer to a tethered training boat before participants row more independently.
Current pathways include introductory courses, youth development, competitive, sport and masters programmes, touring outings and supervised open rowing. The club also accommodates visiting rowers, group sessions and the Accès-Loisirs programme.
Boucherville first staged its autumn Contre-Courant regatta in 2007 and its club marathon in 2020. Its events programme now includes open days, the marathon, Contre-Courant and an end-of-season gala, while 2024 activities marked the club's 50th anniversary.
