About this club

Kamloops Rowing Club is based at Shumway Lake, about 25 minutes from Kamloops. The City of Kamloops gives the rowing location as 5156 Princeton Highway 5A.

The club shares the Shumway Watersports Complex with the Kamloops Canoe and Kayak Club and Kamloops Waterski Club through the Kamloopa Club. The site facilities were originally built for the 1993 Canada Summer Games.

The rowing club offers introductory sessions and learn-to-row, followed by recreational opportunities. Its activity information also identifies both racing and coastal boats at the lake.

A city-backed Try It Rowing event in 2025 offered free 90-minute sessions for people aged 15 and over. Registration was handled directly through the rowing club.

The shared water venue has seven lanes and a 2,000-metre course according to the club's facilities page. Funding reports show that the member clubs have maintained the shared boathouse, docks and other operating infrastructure.

The Shumway facilities have supported provincial championships, regional training clinics and the 2011 Western Canada Summer Games. Those events are documented for the shared Kamloopa venue rather than claimed as results won by the rowing club.
