About this club
Nanaimo Rowing Club is a non-profit society rowing on Long Lake in Nanaimo. Its current address is 4295 Victoria Avenue at the lake.
The club was chartered on 17 December 1992 after public meetings to establish a local rowing organisation. Its history credits the example of Nanaimo athlete Brenda Taylor, a double Olympic gold medallist, with helping inspire the project.
Long Lake became the club's training water, and the club's first regatta trip was to Delta Deas. Those milestones are documented by the club rather than inferred from the date of its older online pages.
Current activity includes learn-to-row and adult club rowing. The official site presents the society as a community organisation that supplies access to the sport at Long Lake.
Nanaimo also hosts the Nanaimo Sprints. Rowing BC describes the event as a development regatta for novice and junior-varsity athletes.
The present official site has replaced the obsolete Google Sites URL in the input. Its history fixes the founding date at 1992, not the 1998 value held in the source record.
