About this club
OARCA Coastal Rowing Club is based at Tulista Coastal Rowing Centre in Sidney. The parent Open Aviron Rowing Coastal Association promotes open-water and coastal rowing locally and across Canada.
OARCA was incorporated to organise the 2018 World Rowing Coastal Championships in Sidney. The event brought 385 athletes from 22 countries and was delivered with 360 volunteers.
The organisation moved from event host to sanctioned rowing club when Rowing Canada Aviron granted club status in April 2023. Its Tulista base is on the site used for the 2018 championships.
Membership provides access to a coastal fleet that the club lists as three solos, three doubles and two coxed quads. Programmes and camps support experienced rowers and people entering coastal rowing.
OARCA also runs beach sprint activity for junior, university, senior and masters categories. Rowing BC documents Sidney's continuing role in coastal rowing following the world championship.
Rowing Canada lists the organisation as OARCA Coastal Rowing Club. The entry is therefore a real club, not merely the 2018 event committee, but the canonical directory name should use the national body's current club form.
