About this club
Brockville Rowing Club is based at 1 Ferry Street on the St. Lawrence River in downtown Brockville. It offers learn-to-row, recreational and competitive rowing for all ages, with separate opportunities for summer campers, adults, high-school students and dryland athletes.
The present club was founded in 1894 and celebrated its 130th year in 2024. Rowing in Brockville predates it: a local crew won the Tiffin Cup in Montreal in 1860, and the city's waterfront hosted the 1878 Dominion Day Regatta, where Ned Hanlan raced leading North American scullers.
The club's summer youth camp reached its 52nd season in 2026. Brockville says the camp has produced more than 25 Canadian national-team rowers, more than 30 post-secondary scholarships and over 100 provincial or national champions. Campers can learn both sweep and sculling, including flat-water and coastal rowing.
Recreational adults row on the St. Lawrence, while competitive athletes prepare for provincial and national regattas. The club's 2026 schedule included the CSSRA Championships, RowOn Summer Championships, Eastern Rowing Association Regatta and Royal Canadian Henley.
The downtown training facility is open to public gym members around the clock. Its equipment includes Concept2 rowing machines and bikes, free weights and strength machines, giving club athletes an off-water training base throughout the year.
