About this club
London Western Rowing Club is the community and university rowing organisation serving London, Ontario. It operates a dry-land centre at 199 Wonderland Road South and an on-water boathouse at Fanshawe Lake.
The club was established in 2020 through the merger of London Rowing Club and Western Rowing Club. Row Ontario's history follows the predecessor programmes while treating the merger as the foundation of the current organisation.
Fanshawe Lake provides the club's buoyed 2,000-metre course, while the Wonderland Road site supports year-round land training. The Doc Fitz-James Boathouse is used for the club's on-water programme.
Learn-to-row consists of six sessions at Fanshawe Lake for participants aged 14 and over. High-school rowing, junior through masters competition, adult recreation and year-round masters programmes are also offered.
The club hosts school and open competition including the WOSSA championship and Head of the Thames. The London programme also hosted rowing at the 2001 Canada Summer Games.
From 1985 to 2017, London was home to a national training centre. The present club's profile reports a membership of roughly 75 to 100 and continues both community and Western University rowing pathways.
