About this club

Niagara Falls Rowing Club is a community club on the Welland River at 5454 Lyons Creek Road. It provides rowing for Niagara Falls through recreational and competitive programmes.

A pilot programme began in 2012 after a dock was installed at Lyons Creek and ten rowers from Saint Paul Catholic High School took part. Participation grew to 24 in 2013, and the club incorporated in 2014 with about 60 rowers.

Tony Arcuri and Wernher Verbraeken are identified by Row Ontario as founders of the organisation. The club's development joined school rowing to a broader community programme on the river.

Current offerings include youth development, junior and senior competition, adult recreation, masters rowing and winter training. Introductory opportunities provide a route into those seasonal programmes.

By 2021 the club's own history listed youth, high-performance, masters and recreational sections. That expansion followed the early school pilot rather than representing a separate organisation.

The official history documents participation growth but does not publish a detailed list of medals or alumni. Competitive claims beyond the programmes themselves are therefore omitted.
