About this club
Nipissing University Rowing Club is the Lakers men's and women's university rowing programme in North Bay. Its athletes train on Trout Lake and compete in the Ontario university rowing season.
The university described 2017 as the programme's first full varsity season. The team had been operating as a club team since 2013 before applying to the university's Athletics Advisory Board for varsity status.
The 2017 team raced at the Head of the Trent and the Ontario University Athletics championships. A women's varsity double also won its event at the Muskoka Fall Classic that season.
Current Nipissing athletics pages publish men's and women's rosters and identify the rowing head coach. The programme remains part of the Lakers varsity structure rather than an inactive student society.
Rowing Canada Aviron's 2020 annual reporting recorded Nipissing as a probationary member. That national affiliation provides separate support for the club identity.
Nipissing continues to recognise rowing athletes through its annual athletics awards.
