About this club
Owen Sound Rowing Club is based beside the north parking lot of the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre in Owen Sound. The club is listed as a current Row Ontario member and Rowing Canada’s 2025 annual report recorded 29 registered participants.
The club’s current programme centres on learn-to-row and recreational membership. Its learn-to-row course is open to people aged 12 and over and combines dryland preparation with coached water sessions. Completing both published levels gives participants full club membership.
Full recreational members receive seasonal access to rowing equipment from June through September. The club states that members can arrange outings around their own schedules once registered with both Owen Sound Rowing Club and Rowing Canada.
A 2010 Ontario Trillium Foundation grant allowed the club to buy three rowing shells. At that time, its learn-to-row programme had doubled in size, nine learn-to-row coaches had been trained, and the volunteer group was working towards provincial and national competition.
In January 2026, Owen Sound joined five other regional clubs in forming Near North Rowing. The partnership was created to address shared issues in recruitment, funding, geography and long-term access to the sport.
