About this club

Tillsonburg Rowing Club is a volunteer non-profit organisation rowing on Lake Lisgar in Tillsonburg. The club describes the lake as providing about 600 metres of open water, and Row Ontario lists its address as 27-29 Park Avenue.

Row Ontario records the club’s formation in 1981. The club’s own history credits the Gibson and Parsons families, the Kinsmen Club of Tillsonburg, former national rower Kubet Weston, sisters Julie and Sue Pinter, and long-serving executive Al Almas among its early supporters.

Adult members can row recreationally on Lake Lisgar or train for competition. Learn-to-row uses four individual or group lessons, after which participants can continue with adult members for the rest of the season.

The student programme includes Grade 7 and high-school rowers. High-school athletes compete for their schools in May and June, then represent Tillsonburg Rowing Club for the remainder of the season.

On-water training normally runs from April to November, followed by winter ergometer work. Full adult membership also includes access to the health club at the Tillsonburg Community Centre, while competitive members choose regattas during the warmer months.
