About this club
Trinity College School runs a coeducational rowing programme for Senior School students in Port Hope. The school rows on Rice Lake, just north of the town, and uses Trent University’s indoor rowing tank during winter preparation.
The Chauvin Rowing Room opened in January 2011 with 15 ergometers and space for core conditioning. In spring, the team moves to on-water training and builds towards the Canadian Secondary Schools Rowing Association championship.
Junior rowers learn basic technique, racing and team participation. Senior athletes follow a more intensive training programme aimed at national schools competition, using equipment that ranges from single sculls to eights.
Trinity College School records a girls’ double winning gold at the 2010 CSSRA championships. A boys’ double placed fifth in 2013, and a boys’ quad won bronze in 2014.
The school itself was founded in 1865 and moved to Port Hope in 1868. That institutional date is not treated as the founding year of the rowing programme because the rowing source does not supply one.
